PEARL NOSE

Pearl Nose originates from a form modelled by hand in clay, subsequently digitised and transformed into a live computational sculpture. Real-time weather data from the Vinga weather station on the Swedish west coast affects the sculpture’s orientation, colour and degree of dissolution.

A CONTINUING PRACTICE

Pearl Nose forms part of a practice extending across physical sculpture, digital imaging, spatial sound, virtual 3D and data-driven systems. Since the early 1990s, DanTommi has explored how sculptural form can move between material and computational states.

AVAILABLE PHYSICAL WORKS

Alongside his digital and virtual works, DanTommi develops physical sculptures, drawings and image-based works in which the seahorse moves between different material and representational states.

Some forms begin in hand-modelled clay, while others are constructed directly with a 3D pen and PLA filament. The additive process becomes a form of three-dimensional drawing — line accumulating into surface and volume while remaining visibly handmade.

Several of these works were first presented in the solo exhibition Big Blu on Vrångö in 2023 and remain available.
